Say hello, TONY Kids Issue 13: July–August 2006

By olababy
Hipster moms and dads jonesing for fashionable baby gear in Carroll Gardens need look no further than Olá Baby. After lamenting the dearth of kid stores nearby, Carla Barbosa decided to put out her own shingle. The shop offers plenty of trendy stuff, like Phil and Ted strollers (from $380) and Diaper Dude bags ($54 and up). Brooklyn-based companies, such as Kee-Ka, also take up shelf space; their onesies emblazoned with pop-culture savvy phrases like “Nobody puts baby in a corner” ($22) will ensure that your baby is the coolest on the playground. Realbirth recently started holding in-store classes on newborn care and there are also plans for a parents’ support group—just the thing to bring the community together. — Amy Plitt
